What is it

The knee withstands high loads with every step, jump and change of direction. Pain may come from tendons, meniscus, cartilage or from how load is managed.

What can cause it

  • Overload (running, jumping, stairs)
  • Sprains
  • Meniscus tears
  • Reduced quadriceps and hip strength

How we treat it

  • Functional assessment of knee, hip and foot
  • Progressive strengthening and movement control
  • Load management and a return-to-activity plan

What to expect

The programme combines sessions at the clinic and home exercises, with regular tests to measure strength and function.

How to prevent it

  • Strengthen quadriceps and glutes
  • Increase load gradually

Do I need rehabilitation?

Recommended after trauma, if the knee is swollen or if pain limits sport or stairs.
