What is it

After a joint replacement, rehabilitation is essential to regain mobility, strength and independence as quickly as possible.

What can cause it

  • Advanced osteoarthritis
  • Fractures
  • Previous trauma

How we treat it

  • Restoring range of motion following your surgeon's instructions
  • Progressive strengthening and gait retraining
  • Training stairs, balance and daily activities

What to expect

In the first weeks we work on pain, swelling and mobility; then on strength and full independence.

How to prevent it

  • Pre-habilitation before surgery
  • Staying active after the programme

Do I need rehabilitation?

Yes, it is an integral part of the outcome of surgery.
